Southampton are closing in on the loan signing of Danny Ings as they made a pursuit for the forward at the eleventh hour. The Saints successfully submitted a deal sheet prior to 5pm deadline meaning they have until 7pm tonight to finalise a deal.
The Liverpool striker had been touted to the numerous Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace and Newcastle, this window, for a fee believed to be in the region of £20 million.
However, with no permanent deal in sight, Liverpool accepted a loan offer from Southampton with the club currently trying to complete the deal before the 7pm deadline.
The Englishman has been very unlucky throughout his tenure at the Reds, where he has spent a majority of his time at the club facing different injuries. Ings suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in 2015 and also required surgery on his right knee the following season. A loan move away from the club should be exactly what the England forward needs to get his football career back on track.
Earlier in the day, it seemed likely that Fulham would complete the signing of right-back Martin Montaya from Valencia. However, in the last hour, Sky Sources have indicated that Brighton have snatched the deal and will instead bring the 27-year-old to the south of England.
In response, rumours now suggest that the Cottages will complete the loan signing of versatile Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who has experience playing as both a central defender as well as a right-back.
The Dutch defender was on loan at Crystal Palace, last season, where he played just over 20 games in the league for the Eagles.
Away from the right-back role, Sky Sources also indicate that the Cottagers have agreed a £30 million fee with Marseille for midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa. The Cameroonian midfielder played regularly for Les Phocéens last season in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League. The 22-year-old also started in the Europa League final against Atletico Madrid, where the French side lost 3-0 to the eventual winners.
Everton have officially announced the permanent signings of winger Bernard as well as Barcelona duo Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.
Bernard joins the Toffees after his contract expired at Shakhtar Donetsk last season whilst Mina joins the club from Barcelona for a fee believed to be around £28.7m. Gomes also joins the club from the La Liga winners.
Barcelona and Everton have had a strong relationship in this window, with the clubs also agreeing to a deal for left-back Lucas Digne. In regards to the Mina transfer, the Spanish club have inserted a buy-back clause that can be activated at any time.
A host of Premier League clubs were reportedly interested in signing Bernard (like Arsenal and Liverpool) and Mina (like Manchester United), but it was Everton who were able to get both deals over the line. Also, the signing of Gomes will give the midfielder a fresh start in the Premier League where he’ll get some much-needed game-time.
