Arsenal has confirmed the signing of Southampton right-back Cedric Soares on a short loan deal.
The north London club has been interested in strengthening their defence this winter and have already confirmed the loan signing of central defender Pablo Mari from Flamengo.
Soares joins the club on an initial loan deal until the end of the season but reports suggest the move could become permanent. The 28-year-old’s contract at the Saints expires in the summer and the Gunners reportedly have the option to sign him on a four-year deal.
Speaking of his transfer, Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, says: Technical director Edu said: “Cedric is a defender with good experience of the Premier League, and of course at international level. He is another strong addition to our defensive unit who will provide our squad with quality.”
Also, it has been confirmed that Cedric Soares will wear the number 17 shirt.
