According to the somewhat-reliable sports journalist, Kike Marin, Arsenal have tabled a bid worth €100 (£89.9) million for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé.
The 21-year-old recently played a part in France’s success at the World Cup where they lifted the trophy for the second time. Some media outlets have claimed that the Frenchman is unhappy at Barcelona yet Dembélé decided to cut his holiday short to focus on the new season with Barça.
With just under three hours to go until the transfer window closes for English clubs, it’s fair to say that this rumour should only be taken with a pinch of salt. However, many media outlets throughout the summer have discussed Arsenal’s pursuit of the Frenchman, and this is the first time someone with some credibility has revealed an actual offer has been made.
This year, Marin has had quite a good track record when it comes to reporting on Arsenal. He was one of the first to break the news that Unai Emery would become Arsenal’s head coach and he has also correctly reported on Arsenal’s approach for the likes of Bernd Leno and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Can Arsenal pull off a deal? I highly doubt it, but it’s still strange that an actual bid has been reported by Marin. Unless he’s being hacked…
